Adventures in Life: Hodgepodge Wednesday Vol. 96

1. It's a brand new month...share one thing you're looking forward to in October.
That's easy ~ Finishing the digging phase of Operation: Finish Basement! Hopefully in the next 2 weeks...

2. Is chivalry dead? Explain.
Some days I would say yes (like when the metra train is crowded and a man does not give up his seat for a woman who is standing in the isle) and some days I would say no (like when someone holds the door open for you). I have a theory that chivalry is slowly dying since so many women want to be treated the same as men in every aspect. As a result acts of chivalry are not expected, go unappreciated, or sometimes even offend people. But that is just my 2 cents.

3. On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts comic strip made its debut. Which character is your favorite? Which character is most like you? (Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Shroeder, Snoopy, Woodstock, or Pig Pen) If you need a description click here .
Charlie Brown has always been my favorite! Growing up in Minnesota (the home of Charles Schutlz - the author of Peanuts) that comic and all the characters are a big deal. I would be Woodstock - Snoopy's side kick and partner in crime!

4. What's something you're competitive about?
HA! If you knew me in real life the question would be what am I NOT competitive about! I really do not like to lose. Any kind of game, race, competition...even things that are not really competitions. I am particularly competitive when it comes to card games with grandparents, and games of Settlers of Catan with friends.

5. October is National Popcorn Popping Month...are you a fan? How do you like your popcorn?
I LOVE popcorn! Kettle corn is my favorite. Daniel makes the best kettle corn with just a little salt on it to highlight the sweet. And my dad always made the best carmel corn. OH, and my Grandma Seger made the BEST honey popcorn - she always brought a big tub of it when we went camping. (can you tell I love popcorn?!)

6. When did you first realize the world is small?
Last year when we were on a cruise, on the little boat taking us from the ship to the island we were sitting next to a couple from a small town in MN. We got to talking and I discovered they went to the same church as a good family friend of ours that I have know my whole life. We were thousands of miles from home and sitting right next to friends! SMALL WORLD!

7. In terms of architecture, what's the most beautiful building you've seen up close and in person?
Oh gosh...um...I loved visiting the James J. Hill house in Minneapolis, MN

And this spring I got to attend a wedding at
The Castillo Serralles in Puerto Rico

  4. What a fun photo link! We were in park City, UT last month and the fall colors were already changing, but we live in the high desert of Idaho and it just hasn't gotten cold enough yet... hopefully in the next couple of weeks!

  5. You know, little perky, flitting-around, chirpy Woodstock has to be one of my favorite (though often overlooked) characters in Peanuts too ... He (?) always make me laugh!! :)

  7. We have discovered that it is hard to talk to people anywhere in the U.S. that you can't make some type of connection with! 7 degrees of separation is true, I think!

  8. That must have been some wedding in PR. Beautiful mansion! Most of the leaves here haven't started to change yet. I did see a few overlooking the little river as we drove by the other day so maybe soon.

  9. I love the idea of a fall photo link. I wrote in on my calendar so hopefully I'll remember. Now, if the rain would only quit so I could take some pictures and there are still leaves on the trees!

    2. Is chivalry dead? Explain. At times, when my girls and I wear dresses we get more respect.. On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts comic strip made its debut. Which character is your favorite? Which character is most like you? (Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Shroeder, Snoopy, Woodstock, or Pig Pen)Shroeder, I am more on the quiet serious side.
