Adventures in the Basement: A Glass Enclosed Shower....FINALLY!!

We have been making baby steps of progress on the basement - there are lots of little jobs that need to be finished but are not essential to using the space. It has been a while since I have posted anything about the basement so I thought I would share some of the projects and progress!

One project we have been working towards has been the glass for the shower - we have just been making due with what we call our "hillbilly glass shower" which was 2 clear plastic shower curtains and duct tape held up by a few copper pipes that Daniel whipped up. And it has been that way since March...of last year!  It worked fine, but we have been dreaming of (and saving for) a real glass enclosed shower with a door. And today was the day!

Here is a before picture, without the glass before the guys came today.

And after with the glass!

I know, kind of anti-climatic on the computer screen, right? I mean, it is glass, and the point is that you are not really supposed to notice it. You will just have to take my word for it that it is impressive. The 3 black strips will be gone on Saturday when the silicon has set - it's just tape to hold everything in place. There is a door on the right hand side and a valence is above it to let out steam - it we want to let the steam out. While we love doing projects ourselves, we felt that this was a project that we needed to pay a professional to do. And I'm so glad that we did!

  1. Hooray ~ the glass enclosure is installed!!
It looks so nice...and clear...and clean!
You'll have to use a really good squeegee to keep it looking good.
Now you can (finally) cross that project off of your "to do" list = )
