Adventures in Blogging: 100th Hodgepodge

Well this is not MY 100th time doing Hodgepodge Wednesday, but it is the 100th time that Joyce has hosted it!

1. What creeps you out?
Noises that I don't know what caused them - my imagination often gets the best of me on that one!

2. What's your least favorite candy?
Mounds and Almond Joys - coconut = yucky!

3. Are you a fan of scary movies? What's the scariest movie you've ever seen?
NOT A FAN! I saw Final Destination years and am still scarred from it...

4. What part of life confuses you the most?
I can't really think of anything. Hind site is 20/20, right. So there were points in my life where I was confused but not I can see God working out His perfect plan.

5. Pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, poppy...what's your favorite seed?
Sesame seed! Oh, I do like sunflower seeds too...

6. Imagine your life ten years from today...what's changed?
I was just thinking about that the other day. In 10 years I will be 38 and hopefully will have added being a mom to the list of things that I am doing.

7. What do you a) love the most and b) like the least about the Hodgepodge?
a) Getting to ponder questions and read other people's answer - getting to know myself and others better!
b) When I can't get my thoughts on a question into the right words on the screen.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Today is Halloween. Growing up I did the whole dress up ( but not in a scary/evil costume) and go trick-or-treating. My hubby did not. I understand the historical connections between Halloween and Satan / devil worship / witchcraft / demonic forces, but I also remember all the fun times I had with my family, going around our neighborhood trick-or-treating. I loved getting a fun and special costume every year too! In high school we even organized trick -or-treating for canned goods for the food shelf. I know everyone has a different opinion about all of this: A group from our church goes bowling every year on Halloween in stead of dressing up and trick-or-treating. I know some families who just totally ignore the day which is what we tried to do at the Christian school I taught at. And I know some churches who do youth group costume contest parties...Anyway, this is a true RANDOM thought - but I'm wondering what your thoughts are on Halloween?

  1. I have always been a fan of Halloween. I love the dressing up and the getting together with friends. The treats were just a bonus.

  2. Ah yes, Final Destination is a creepy one, too. Everything was so realistic. And my imagination always goes into hyperdrive when I hear something and can't explain it.

  3. We always participated in Halloween as kids and so did our kids. We just tried to keep away from the evil and make it more fun instead. Still, I do have rather mixed feelings about it.

  4. I used to have mixed feelings but not anymore because 9/10 people do it for fun than the whole satan worshipping aspect. Beenbooed.com is my favorite thing to do with kids for Halloween :)

  5. The noise issue can freak me out at times too...

  6. Mounds and Almond Joy are my two favorites! I use to watch scary movies all the time, before I met Jesus. I don't think you want to know what I've seen. Oh and I do dress my kids up and parade them around the neighborhood. Have a great weekend!

  8. Hope you have a little one in your life someday. They are beautiful blessings. I think Halloween is fun for the kids and I love handing out candy at the door.

  9. Trying to catch up on last week's post....I get the Halloween dilemma but in our family it was all just fun. Really an excuse to dress up and eat candy : ) I don't take lightly matters of the occult but in my own spirit have never felt anything alarming towards Halloween. Now, my girls will tell you I was the television police and wouldn't even allow Charmed on at home. For some reason tv, books, and movies, even lightheartedly opening the door to witchcraft, etc made my nerves stand on end so I paid attention.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
