Adventures in the Basement: June Update (So, It's Been Awhile...)

If you are new to the Adventures of D and V, you may not even know about our ultimate DIY project we have been working on for over a year now!! It's a little project that we like to call Operation: Finish Basement, and well, it's just that. We are finishing our basement! And after a few months of resting, saving, planning, and more resting, we have been getting back into the swing of things and I thought you might like to see some of our progress since the last time I really posted about it was back in JANUARY!

Our next big goal is to have everything ready for inspection and drywall by July. So that means all "behind the walls and ceiling work" needs to be done. Electrical, plumbing, insulation, and framing for walls and ceiling all are getting close to being done!

Some areas will have drywall ceiling, and some will have drop ceiling tiles. This "hallway" area will be drywall.

I'm pretty excited to have this linen closet right next to the new bathroom...I don't have a linen closet on the main floor, so this will be a GREAT storage place for towels and ... linens!

For a bit of perspective here are 3 pictures taken in almost the same spot from different months and stages in our project
October: Still working on digging the basement deeper.
November: All ready to pour the new concrete floor.
June: Most walls up, getting all ready for drywall.
Hopefully soon I can show you some drywall shots of the rooms!

  2. That's exciting! I hope one day when we have a home that we can either have a finished basement or an upstairs with a large family room area/guest bedroom and bathroom.
