Adventures in Products: My Last BirchBox

twistband™ Headband Collection ~ Skinny and stylish, each band is made of super-soft elastic that won’t leave a crease behind or induce a dreaded headband headache. Searching for a super slim option? Try the Solid Christa—they’re especially great for those growing out their bangs. These headbands always slip off of my head, and this one is was no exception...maybe it is the shape of my head!? It is a good idea, but not for me.

Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream ~ A moisturizing base of omega-rich squalene, organic shea butter, jojoba oil, and coconut oil protects against the redness and irritation associated with shaving, while organic green tea extracts infuse skin with antioxidants. I normally just use conditioner as shave cream, but I gave this one a try. It smells great, and did not irritate my skin...but I would not pay $20 for a bottle of shave cream.

Madewell for Birchbox Nail Emery Board ~ This sturdy manicure savior has a rough side for shaping and filing down breaks or snags, plus a smoother face to gently finish nail edges. I had seen a few people get these last month, and I was hoping I would get one! It works great and I am excited to have a new emery board.

Evologie Intensive Blemish Serum ~ The patent pending YS3 Complex delivers blemish-banishing ingredients, like tea tree oil and salicylic acid, beneath the skin’s surface. Willow bark extract reduces inflammation and redness. Thankfully, since high school, my skin has been fairly blemish free. When I find one, I will give this a try. It smells nice and it sounds like a good product.

Youngblood Mineral Radiance Moisture Tint ~ Seve Marine, a green algae known for its super-hydrating properties, and hyaluronic acid tackle dry skin. Antioxidant-packed kiwi extract and Vitamin E fight off free radicals, licorice root extract calms redness and inflammation, and a blend of minerals, including Rhodolite, Zincite, Hematite and Malachite, protects skin cells. I was so very excited to try this, but the pump on the sample packaging did not work - boo! I might try to get some out of the bottle using a Q-tip. Anyone else have a problem with the pump?

This was the final Birchbox in my subscription, and I decided not to renew. I did enjoy at least 1 item in each box, and some boxes were great, but I was just not pleased enough with the items I was receiving to continue. If Birchbox ever changes their procedures, letting subscribers have more control over what comes in their box (for example opting out of getting fragrance samples, or getting more make-up samples) then I might consider signing up again. I have been looking at Ispy, and have heard good things about it. Anyone have an opinion about Ispy and their products?

  1. I've never heard of Ispy, but then I'd never hard of Birchbox either. Another blogger subscribed to something that sends items of clothing each month. Now, I think that sounds like fun! You just send back what you don't want. I hate having products around that I am not going to use, so Birchbox wouldn't be for me!Have a great weekend!

  2. I havent tried my head band because I have the exact same problem. Nothing stays on my head. I tried the ones for running with like a grip plastic on the inside... nope, slides right out - pulling my hair out in crazy-style-fashion

  3. I've never hear of Birchbox or Ispy. I don't think I'd want to get packages without having some say of what is being delivered. I suppose you can donate the products you don't use or even sell them on ebay. =)

  5. My last BB of this year's subscription is next month and I'm also considering whether or not to renew. I do LOVE their point system and I've found some really great products, but I've also heard awesome things about Ispy, too. I'm afraid that if I leave Birchbox, it will all of a sudden get super awesome and I'll miss it :)

  7. I love birchbox and it seems to be getting better since I joined in November. You can't beat it for $10 but if I were to subscribe to another beauty box it would be glossybox def.
