Guess what day it is? Anyone, anyone?
And it's Hodgepodge Wednesday!
1. What's one thing that's still the same about you as when you were young?
My hair color! I've never, ever, ever colored my hair. Not even highlights.
2. What's more important-history or science? Why?
Really Joyce, you are making me choose?! I think they are both so important! But if I'm being forced to pick one, I am going with Science. Why? Because science is the practical application of math and reading in an interesting and exciting way. When I was teaching, science was always my student's favorite subject. Hand on experiments, observations, discovery... what's not to like! And in thinking about it, when you learn science, you are also learning history. What other scientists have discovered and their methods of discovery.
3. Lima, kidney, string, garbanzo, black or pinto-your favorite bean?
Black, specifically black bean and corn salsa.
4. What's something people come to your town to do?
We've got a cute downtown area in our town with fun shops and restaurants that people come to shop and eat at.
5. When was the last time you were in a meeting? Sum it up for us in five words or less.
Church congregational meeting. Shouldn't been long, but was.
6. What special event would you like a VIP pass to attend?
The Olympics. Specifically swimming or gymnastics.
7. What's one piece of advice you'd give a writer?
8. Insert your own random thought here.
For those of you who have been following our progress on Operation: Finish Basement, we had a very exciting mile stone this past weekend....we went tile shopping for the bathroom!! Eeek! Here is a sneak peak at what we are loving for accent in the shower tile. We are going for a beachy look...

7. What's one piece of advice you'd give a writer?
Oh, goodness, I have no idea on this one...maybe make the title of your book interesting. I like to read books with memorable titles and I tend to recommend books more often when I can easily recall their title!

I was struck by your observation about the congregational meeting going long. I've been to a number of such meetings and it's been my experience that short meetings are the exception, not the rule. Nice Blog!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm loving that tile too! Good choice!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but chuckle at the long church meeting. They all seem to be that way.
Have a glorious Wednesday my dear!
Your tile looks great! Can't wait to see the finished work.
ReplyDeleteChurch meetings ALWAYS end up long!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed you haven't colored your hair. That's a rare thing anymore.
I love your shower tile! Yes swimming and gymnastics would be awesome events to attend. That is really awesome about your hair. I bet there are not too many people who can say that. Fun to see you playing Hodgepodge today.
ReplyDeleteNever colored your hair?? I can hardly remember what color mine was! I know it is grey now though! :(
ReplyDeleteSecond attempt at comment!
ReplyDeleteI colour my hair (because I'm starting to go grey, and I refuse to have grey hair before I'm at least 40). And yay for another gymnastics fan! Worlds are next week and I'm so excited. Also the 2015 worlds (olympic qualifiers) will be in Scotland! whoop whoop!
Darn. My keyboard is so touchy. I just wrote a comment and then before I was finished it started to send. I'm not sure if it went through or not. In any case, I said that after reading several Hodgepodge posts today, you are the first people I've come across that chose science over history. I like you reason why.
ReplyDeleteAlso, regarding the book titles... interesting book titles attract attention. I've often come across odd titles and just had to pick up the book and read the blurb to see what it was about. Definitely something for authors to consider.
Your tile looks so "watery" and I like it! Oh no, a congregational meeting-that sounds scary.
ReplyDeleteI love your tile! I am still just highlighting my hair, and will keep doing that for as long as it works. I hate committing to that every 4-6 week thing. It's nice to see you in the HP this week : )
ReplyDeleteI didn't color my hair for many, many years either. Then, slowly, but surely, those gray hairs kept coming...
ReplyDeleteI love your 'beachy look' for the basement bathroom! It's fun picking out stuff for a remodel project, isn't it?
I love, love, love that tile!
