Adventures in the Basement: Dr. Seuss' Birthday

Our most current decision to be made for the basement is very similar to one of my favorite Dr. Seuss book
(Did you know today is his birthday?)

One Sink

Two Sink

Red Sink

Blue Sink

Name that book?

Ok, We are not seriously thinking about a red or blue sink. But we have been going back and forth on if we want one sink or two sinks in our new basement bathroom.
Two sinks = we can both brush our teeth at the same time.
One sink = more counter top area for things like curling irons and make-up bags.
Two sinks = adds more of a 'master bath' feel to the room.
One sink = only having to buy and do plumbing for one faucet.
Two sinks = two sinks to clean!

The list goes on and on...
What do you think?
Is 2 sinks better than one?

  1. Well, love your list of pros and cons but I'm telling you, two sinks gets my vote! Hubby and I have shared a sink for 31 years and it hasn't always been easy. The other two baths in this house have two sinks. Go figure! A man designed this house I'm sure. You will survive (I'm proof) with one but if it is feasible, I'd sure put two. Happy weekend!

  2. I have ALWAYS wanted a bathroom with two sinks. I'd forego counter space in a heartbeat if I could have two sinks.

  3. My grandparents had a double sink in their bathroom. It was really nice! It definitely had more of a master bathroom feel.

  4. You are so clever! I vote two sinks totally for the convenience factor. Extra counter space is nice, but it is so easily just a haven for clutter. Whatever you decide will be fine!

  5. You can still brush your teeth at the same time in 1 sink. It always makes me giggle the times I've stayed at Charles' mum's and even though he sleeps in the living room and I in his bedroom, we get to brush our teeth together :) hehe. Feel so intimate in it's own little way :)

And I, for one, love my counter-space!

  6. It can be very handy to have 2 sinks, but only if there's also enough counter space.
If I had to choose between the 2 options, I would choose the extra counter space over the double sink.

  7. If you have plenty of room, go for the two sinks ... I think if for no other reason than resale value ... I think most buyers want 2 sinks. Besides, like Susan said, extra counter space is too easily filled with stuff that really ought to be put away. ;-) However, if there's any doubt that you don't have enough room, definitely go with the single sink. We did 2 sinks in our bathroom remodel at our old house. I really, really wanted the 2 sinks, but we really didn't quite have enough space for two ... it was pretty tight so we ended up never using the sinks at the same time after all. Be sure to let us know what you end up going with.
