Adventures in Blogging: Hodgepodge Wednesday Vol.90

Back again with some fun answers to some fun questions from
1. Aloha! On August 21, 1959 Hawaii officially became a US state. Have you ever been? Upon arrival would you prefer an orchid or a hibiscus to tuck behind your ear?
My family went on vacation to Hawaii once. I was 2 years old so I don't remember it, but we stayed with my Aunt and Uncle who lived in Hawaii at the time. I think I would go with a hibiscus behind my ear - wait! What happened to the lei around your neck? I want one of those!

2. Since we're talking tropical...what's your favorite food or beverage made with pineapple?
I LOVE pineapple! I can't remember the name of the drink, but a few weeks ago we were out to dinner and a friend ordered this drink that was like a mojito but it also had pineapple (and it was made with pineapple rum)  in it - SO yummy!

3. Do you believe in soul mates? Explain.
This is a back and forth one for me. If you had asked me 5 years ago, I would have said no (and then engaged in a conversation about free will) but the longer I am married, the more I find that God created Daniel and I for each other. Little things that happened to each of us in the past to prepare us for each other in the present just amaze me! And then I am even more amazed by the fact that the Creator of the Universe took the time to make a man just for me - wow!

4. Share a memory about the house you grew up in.
Well, from the time I was born until I was in 3rd grade we lived in one house, and then we moved and I lived there until I moved away to college. The first memory that came to mine from the first house was when I was in 1st grade and home with the chicken pox. My brother and I were playing with the basketball in the back yard and I wanted to see how high I could bounce the ball. I threw it down with all my 6 year old strength, and it bounced into my brother's face, knocking out his 2 front teeth! Oops!

5. Are you comfortable with silence?
.....Sure!......

6. You spot a giant spider on your bedroom wall...what's your next move? (all spiders are giant, right?)
If he is home, call for my hubby. If he is not home, get a giant wad of paper towels so that I can't feel the crunch and squish it.

7. My idea of fun does NOT include ______________.
Gosh, I think most things can be made fun if you are with the right people...I guess waiting for a long time is not fun (like in traffic, airports, car repair shops, lines in general), oh, and being yelled at or seeing other people yelled at, also not included in a fun time.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
We finished 3 more holes this weekend in the basement. Not sure what that means?! Check out our latest project in Operation: Finish Basement

  3. To me, your answer to #4 sounds more like a memory about your brother.....and not a memory about the house you grew up in....but it's still a fun memory = )

Your answer to #3 melts my heart ~ so grateful that God brought you and Daniel together in His perfect timing....even though you live way down by Chicago = (

  4. I have no wish to go to Hawaii. I like any drink with pineapple in it. ie smoothies, pina colatas. Do I believe in a soul mate? I thought I did and then I found out soul mates are new age. God brings people together to help brush off the rough edges to help you get to heaven. Memories of the house I grew up in. We had a sand box and we would pick tall grass with seeds on them, poke them in the sand for our garden. I love silence, it gives me time to pray and to be grateful.
For the spider question, I would call my son who is 6' 1'' so he could get it. I did that for a cricket that was high on the wall over my computer. whew. If I was home by myself, I would get a kleenex and send it down the toilet. My idea of fun does not include spending money on a credit card.
I enjoy getting fresh veggies out of our garden, learning about herbs using healthy skincare with aloe.

  8. So t seems that everyone likes pineapple and for most of us it takes a half roll of paper towel to kill a spider from the Hodge Podges I've read! LOL

I totally agree with ypu about lines; I HATE waiting!

  9. Great answer on #3. I've been married for over 40 years and I still get amazed by some of the ways we fit together. God is so good! I wonder if your brother remembers that as well.I don't like waiting either, should have added that to my list.
